Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on the 21st of September of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio, is an American actress. Maggie Grace is most well-known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills as well in ABC's Lost TV show. Originating from Worthington Ohio, she left high school to move to Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. While struggling financially she landed her first part as Rachel's Room's title character the web-based video series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. The actress was able to secure a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder set in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford, a character she played in Lost between 2004 and 2005, was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was forced to quit the show to focus on her film career. She had appeared alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog earlier in the year 2005. In addition, she appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) as well as opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. In 2008, she reprised the role Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). She also played Alice as Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is the modern-day version of the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the Lost series for the last two episodes, playing Shannon. In 2013, Grace appears in Californianation, the 6th season. She portrays Faith as a groupie, and also a muse to the stars, who catches the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. She is a member of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter and elder sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The career of her mother began when she was a young teenager when she appeared in small roles in several films by her father. In addition, she was a part of her brother in the 2001 cult movie Donnie Darko. Her subsequent roles included Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received praise from critics for her leading roles in Secretary (2002, erotic romantic drama) and Sherrybaby (606) Both of which earned her Golden Globe Award nods. Her fame grew for her role as Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercials she appeared in during 2006. As the single mother in Crazy Heart (2009) she got a nomination in the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Then she continued to play in comedies and dramas like Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and Will Not Back Down (12). Other roles she has played include the role of a Secret Service agent in the action thriller White House Down (2013) and a musician in the film Frank (2014) as well as the title role in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was first introduced as a director and writer in 2021 with her psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For this film she was awarded with the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and received nominations for the Academy Award.
